The purpose of the Community Planet Foundation (CPF) is the creation and demonstration of planned cooperative ecological Communities that will enable people to live in greater harmony with themselves, each other, and the environment. Imagine living in a Community of loving, nurturing friends who live and work together as one family and live in harmony with all life. Nature flourishes on hundreds of beautiful acres, while most of the food is grown organically, using modern growing techniques and edible landscaping. Since cars are parked at the outskirts of the Community and pavement is used minimally, it’s a wonderful place to play outdoors or go for a walk and touch the land. When the residents are done working in supportive, nurturing jobs, the Community offers a full array of growth, creative, and recreational opportunities. Organized sports, music, movies, just hanging out, and other fun and relaxing activities are freely available, and the residents enjoy them with friends within walking distance. Such a demonstration Community may not be a new idea. However, a Community of this scope, utilizing the latest technology and redefining how people live together, is something that may be an answer to the problems now facing the planet. Now more than ever we see the need for such a Community. When we look at the world we live in, we see conflict, personal alienation and isolation, hunger, poverty, diminishing resources, and the increasing pollution of our environment that is threatening the survival of our planet. There are so many things that need fixing and these problems are so interconnected that to try to fix them piece-by-piece is not possible. To heal the planet’s imbalances, we must use a systems approach to address these interconnections rather than merely Band-Aiding the symptoms. But how can we address everything? We do not have to watch the destruction of our planet. We can bring about change by addressing how we as people live together on this planet. There are enough resources and manpower on earth for all of us to live abundantly. So what is the problem? The way our lives are set up, the way our cities are designed, and the way our economy functions all negatively impact our planet, while also contributing to the isolation and alienation of individuals trying to survive on their own. Our everyone-for-themselves approach has concentrated resources and power in the hands of a few. Our society fosters the idea of happiness coming from the accumulation of wealth, and yet those who get caught up in this pursuit often find themselves subject to this same isolation and alienation. We have made money the excuse for harming the environment and for not providing basic needs for all. Yet there is more than enough for all of us, and, at this point, the unequal distribution of wealth is affecting the survival of the planet. Anyone looking at these problems can see that we must change the way in which we live. We must change how we live together and relate together so that our lives work for the Highest Good Of All Life. A model of a successful cooperative Community will enable people to see what is possible. People can change the world when they see and experience a better way. The vision of the CPF has been established in a 45-page document and in the book The Next Evolution: a blueprint for Transforming the Planet. We call this first model Community Planet.
